Dr. Farthing was born and raised in Los Angeles and worked for a few years as an engineer for Hughes Aircraft Company in the Radar Systems Division before pursuing his goal of becoming a physician. After graduating from UC Davis
Medical School, he completed his diagnostic radiology residency at St. Luke's Hospital and Medical Center of Kansas City. He then served with the USPHS on the Navajo reservation as the only radiologist for five hospitals and facilities.
Dr. Farthing later returned to California and became President of Advanced Imaging Associates for many years. After fifteen years of general radiology practice, he returned to train as a neuroradiology fellow at the Barrow Neurological Institute of St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center of Phoenix. Dr. Farthing has been married to Tina for twenty-four years. They enjoy foreign travel and have a goal to go hiking in all of the U.S. National Parks. They have two children, Andrew and Vicki, who are currently attending college in California.
